The S’Wicked Blog is born!
Welcome, welcome, to the first S’Wicked blog post!
Yep, I’m throwing my hat in the blogging ring, and look forward to sharing good stuff with you.
“What sort of good stuff?” you may ask.
Well, all sorts, centered on the things I love: stationery and greeting cards, kids’ books, toys, illustration, hand lettering and type design–even interesting home goods. Anything with a touch of whimsy. (I reserve the right to sneak in nifty bits and pieces on other S’Wicked cool stuff I may come across, too.)
If you’re thinking to yourself, “Why are you doing this, now? When you’re kind of blog-clueless and had originally planned to launch this fall?”, then you are probably somewhat psychic, which is really neat.
And, the answer is: I have the most excellent opportunity to hit the rails this weekend and make the trip down to NYC to attend the 2013 National Stationery Show (NSS), and the 25th Anniversary LOUIE Awards Gala. Oh, yeah, and I’ll be swinging by Surtex, and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), and the new Creative & Lifestyle Arts (C&LA) show, too, if I can squeeze them in.
So, what better time to start a blog, and with what better material? I mean, how could I miss the chance for NSS round-up posts, tales from the LOUIEs, and fun peeks at amazing illustrators?
So, here I am, jumping into the blogging fray. I hope what you find here is useful to you. I’m always open to feedback, so please let me know what you like (and what you don’t ).
Best wishes,
Jesswick
Update: The blog name is obviously a play off of my company name, which is in turn a play off of my own name. It doesn’t hurt that I’m from Massachusetts originally, either, and grew up using “wicked” as a true honorific.
